What is Ahmedabad Heritage Tour
Ahmedabad Heritage Tour - An Introduction to the Ancient City
Like Delhi and Hyderabad, there is an ancient city in
Ahmedabad, which is still living in the same period of ancient times. So now "What is Ahmedabad Heritage Tour"? It is An
Introduction to the Ancient City. These ancient places take you back to the
old times when these cities were being newly constructed and where they were
slowly developing. These areas have their own special identity which is evident
from the environment there.
The biggest feature of Ahmedabad is the housing system of
this ancient city which makes it unique. Diverse communities live independently
here, but they are still tied together.
Every day, the heritage journey of Ahmedabad is organized by
the AhmedabadMunicipal Corporation, which takes you to the old parts of the city.
They have become very adept at this task while organizing these trips for
years.

The experience associated with the heritage journey of Ahmedabad
The yatra begins with the Kalupur Swaminarayan Temple, which is located right in the middle
of the city. If you wish, you can reach there a little before 8 in the morning
and enjoy the hot and hot breakfast found at the shops outside the temple. The Fafda you get served with papaya sauce
and Jalebi must be eaten.
Before beginning this padyatra, travelers are shown a small
movie based on the heritage of this temple. A travel brochure is also given so
that they do not face any problem during the journey.
Poet
Dalpat Rai's house
The first stop of this journey is the house of poet Dalpat Rai, where there is nothing
but the front yard, in which there is an open courtyard where a large statue of
him stands. Our guide explained to us in detail about his life and his
philosophical thoughts and also how this courtyard has tried to keep him alive.
Platform
of birds (Chabutro)
Walking through the streets of Ahmedabad, we were shown
platforms of many types of birds. These platforms looked like some trees, which
could not be seen anywhere in these overlapping streets.
This old city of Ahmedabad is divided into residential
groups, where some special communities live. These communities are formed
either on the basis of caste, or on the basis of religion or occupation, or on
the basis of a combination of these three.
There are some secret routes here that connect these
habitats to each other like a puzzle. It is impossible for any outsider to
explain these paths, which proves very convenient in the event of an attack.
Seeing this type of construction here, I got the idea that invasions and
battles have always been an inexhaustible part of the culture of the city; Due
to this, they had to use this method in residential parts also, as is often the
case in the royal palaces.
Ramji
Temple - Haveli Temple
We saw about 450 years old Ramji temple in Ahmedabad which
is also known as Haveli temple. The doer of this temple - the extended joint
family of the temple still resides here. This family temple is also open to the
general public. The wooden structures here that still bear the weight of this
mansion are truly admirable.
Ashtapadi
Jain Temple
Ashtapadi Jain Temple is very beautiful whose typical Jain
architecture is admirable. During this time our tour guide told us about the
unique rainwater harvesting system that can preserve the available consumable
rainwater for the whole year. You will be surprised to see this random
structure, in which many methods are hidden in the structure.
Here, not only rainwater is collected, but with the use of
lime and copper piping, it is harvested in such a way that its usefulness
remains and it is free from any kind of animal or disease. Sometimes I wonder
why and where we have lost this commonly available intelligence of our
ancestors, who had some local and easy solutions to our every need.
As we reach the final stop, this walk continues through the
markets, where the shopkeepers are seen opening their shop and starting their
day. Like other ancient places of India, there are some interesting stories
attached to this place, but this time I will not share these stories with you
so that you can enjoy them when you go there.
Walking through these markets, our guides asked us to look
carefully at the various objects of wood carved here, in which the sources of
many stories were engraved. As you can see the effects of various places of the
world engraved on these objects. Often the shapes of these items are a sign of
their prestige.
Jami
Masjid
The last stop of this padyatra is the Jami Masjid, 200 years
older than the Taj Mahal, possibly built on an ancient temple.
Ahmedabad
Municipal Corporation has put up small information panels on the entire route of this heritage journey,
which gives you detailed information about the various places here. So that if
you go on this journey by yourself, then you can easily understand the
information related to that place.
